Causative agent of SARS virus isolated from lung tissue - test is reliably identifying cases

We know what it is it. It is the SARS virus. But, to which virus family it belongs, we don't know yet," he added.

Some researchers believe it is a new type of paramyxovirus, but studies from other labs suggest it may belong to another virus family.

Seems to me as long as we do not overwhelm the medical capacity of this country we are ok. Care needs to be extended to countries less fortunate for all our sakes.

Third SARS death in Ontario

TORONTO - Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) has killed a third person in Ontario, the province's chief medical officer said Saturday.

The patient died late Friday night, Dr. Colin D'Cuna said.
SARS is the mysterious pneumonia that has claimed three lives in Ontario, and at least seven more worldwide, not counting deaths in China where the disease originated. Chinese officials have not provided information on deaths in their country.
